Happy 4th of July

I'm not sure how the first half of the year has flown by but it has and now here we are, well into summer and ready for the big BBQ weekend. Now, I watched the evening news last night (this is rare) and there was a lot of talk about the economy and food prices. I feel saddened by all the people whose homes are in foreclosure. I know things aren't perfect but overall the main emotion after thinking on all the issues is gratitude. I am so blessed and I'm not the only one. I still think this is a great country and I can't really complain about beef prices when we have a steady income with benefits. Basically, I just think that although gas and food prices are high, most of this country is just selfish and wants more than they need. So we're going to live it up and celebrate this weekend. We'll continue to invite others over for BBQ's and just live without that impulse item from our next wal-mart trip. Oh, and remember all those who sacrificed much more than money to make this country a place of freedom.

Yeah Kim! I agree whole-heartedly with everything you said. And, that burger, holy cow (no pun intended), looks soooo yummy!

I feel sad for all the people who can't take vacations or road trips at all anymore because the cost of gas has gone up so much, but at the same time, it's forcing people to try to find other ways of doing things (and getting off our dependence on oil), so at least that much is good.

I agree with you. I feel lucky that we're doing well enough not to have felt this increase in food prices, though I'm sad for people who aren't. :(

You're killing me with that burger!!!! Mmmm..it looks so good I want one right now.

Yah, I won't even tell you how much we spent at Wal-mart the other day, and we didn't even but anything out-of-the ordinary!! The increase is really starting to show.

What a great post! I should feel more gratitude about what I have instead of complaining about how much everything is going up (especially gas). You seem to always help me keep my life in perspective, that must be why I like being your friend so much. Thanks for the reminder.
