If you give a boy a pancake...

he's going to need a glass of milk.

Here is the absolute BEST whole wheat pancake recipe. Everyone in my family loves it, better than regular pancakes. Try it!

Papa's Whole-Wheat Pancakes (adapted from the Celebrations cookbook by Julie Badger Jensen)

1 C. milk
1 C. whole-wheat flour
1/4 C. sugar
2 eggs
1/4 C. butter, melted
1 tsp. baking soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt

Combine milk and flour with a wisk for about a minute . Add remaining ingredients and beat with wisk for two minutes. Cook on hot griddle and serve. Makes about 12 pancakes (using a 1/4 cup of batter per pancake).

I'll have to try that out once I convince myself to start using wheat flour. ;)

There's this 10 grain waffle/pancake mix at Winco in the bulk section that I can actually recognize all the ingredients in the ingredients list. And....they actually taste really good, too. Makes me feel just a tad bit better using a "healthy" pancake mix as I douse them with butter and syrup.
