All my windows have Benson and dog smudges. I haven't cleaned them in weeks, at least.
My countertops collect dirt and grime until the end of the day when I finally wipe them down and give in to loading the dishwasher.
I have the very bad habit of throwing dirty clothes on the floor. I have improved, but it's still pretty sad.
I hate washing those clothes.
I don't even like to grocery shop. (This used to be one of my favorite things!)
BUT, on the domestic front I did some great things I'm very proud of, both cooking related.
1) I made a shrimp and spinach spaghetti from scratch last night. I didn't use a recipe, I just did it. The real impressive part is that Benson ate it. He ate it again for dinner tonight when NOTHING else would do, believe me I tried a lot of things. Yeah!
2) I made homemade pizza tonight. Now this sounds only so so because I make pizza about once a week but this was special. I made "authentic" Italian pizza. Now, before you question this just understand that is was at least a lot like Italian pizza. It was probably the best dough I've ever created and I spent way too much mo
So there, I outed my faults and tooted my horn in the same post. I guess really the moral of all of this is to share another new thing for me: just being happy with the way things are. I still want to improve but I realized I also need to live in today and enjoy what's already here. I'm still working on the cleaning stuff and in the meantime, at least for tonight, I'm this mediocre chef who is really happy with the past few dinners and days.

Your pizza sounds delicious! Benson has quite the exquisite tastes, that is awesome that he is willing to try new things! We all understand the dirty house, but at least you have a cute happy family!
The pizza looks so yummy! Maybe I should have pizza for dinner--it sounds good right now. Also, I would not call you a "mediocre cook" as you referred to yourself in your post. I have tasted many of your creations when we were roommates and everything you made was wonderful! You should post your pizza dough recipe. I can never seem to find a good one!
Nice work. I am very impressed. You always have great cooking ideas. I should really learn from you! Who cares if your house is messy?! It's summer...anything flies.
I would love to get your dough recipe if you are willing to share. The pizza and pasta sound good!
Just one though: You are not a mediocre cook!! And you can take my word on it, as someone who has enjoyed the fruits of your labors several times.
I remember going to cooking club a few months back and someone suggested you teach a bread making class... I have had many failed bread experiences. You would think that working at Great Harvest for two years would have made me a pro... not the case.
I LOVE a good pizza. Sounds like Benson isn't too picky an eater, either, that's really cool! Hmm. I may have to try that, it looks delicious!
